So often we let one bad moment ruin the rest of our day. Why do we let one moment distinguish what the rest of our day is like!?
Guilty!? I am!
We don’t just let bad moments consume us.. We let material items consume us also. We wake up in the morning and can’t find anything to wear (guilty). We walk through Target and can’t decide which cup we wants from the hundreds in front of us (guilty). We’re in the grocery store and can’t decide what processed food we want to eat next (again, guilty). Starbucks a couple times or more a week (used to be guilty, haha).
We let things consume our thoughts and daily life rather than just living simplistically.
We have become accustomed to consuming things we don’t really need.
Recently, I’ve found myself pretty happy with getting rid of stuff. Stuff is the key word because I didn’t need the things I was getting rid of. Clothing, jewelry, taste for certain foods, etc. I honestly feel really good about.
Its funny because I was getting rid of stuff at the end of the semester and my friend says something along the lines of “why are you getting rid of this!? Its all stuff that you wear.” I don’t remember what I said, but it should have been something along the lines of “all of this stuff is useless” haha
Ways to consume life and moments, instead of things
more of Him and less of you
Honestly, the more time you spend studying the bible the less you will be consumed with the world. You will be more consumed with what Jesus has in store for you! Living this way will give you more peace of mind. Placing your life in God’s hands is ultimately the best thing you could ever do with your life!
Holding onto anger and sadness will weigh you down. I promise you will be a much happier person if you do not hold onto anger and sadness. I didn’t really learn how to let go of feelings until I got to the church I go to at school. To forgive people is so much easier than letting anger bring you down. Only God can judge, so let Him.
Do you truly need all the things hanging in your closet right now? I am not going to tell you if you do or do not. I just want to say there is joy in having less stuff. I personally love having things, haha. I cant tell you how many cups I have. I have an obsession, probably twenty different mugs and bottles, just for my self! Though at the end of the school year I did get rid of some of my older ones or the ones I had not used in a while.
When you buy less you will be able to spend your money in other ways.
Once you lower yourself before God, let the icky feelings go, and be less materialistic
You will be…
happier, more care free, in the moment, and better able to cherish life. Pick your people that you want to cherish life with and go on an adventure!
P.S. I am, by no means trying to tell anyone to be a minimalist. I don’t even know if I could do that, haha. It truly is inspiring though Just be more in the moment and realize what you are putting you energy towards.
30 He must become greater; I must become less.”
John 3:30 New International Version (NIV)
Whatever you do, be happy about it!
