The Bible Says…

Have you ever caught yourself saying these words!? I have multiple times. I have learned a lot about myself and my relationship with God, and saying “the bible says” is not a good way to go about life.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13

One thing I always found myself saying is that “Jesus teaches us to love!”and that would be the end of it truly. Yes, Jesus teaches us to love, but unless we are fully acting in His grace, our word men nothing. Saying “Jesus teaches us to love” is kind of like saying I’m doing something I do not actually want to do. I preached to myself, to love because Jesus said to. It’s what we’re supposed to do right?

When we are able to list off things that the bible says, but there is no action in our lives, we are truly only focused on ourselves and our accomplishments. We don’t actually care if we are spreading love. We don’t actually care if we have a pure heart. We don’t actually care if our life is righteous of God’s everlasting love.

What are you preaching to yourself?

That you’ve got it right, because things seem to be going okay. You know your scripture, so you’re right in Gods eyes. You go to church every week, attend bible studies and small groups. You do some community service, because “hey, the bible says that we should serve other!” You’ve got a mental check list of things that you think God wants you to be doing?

The truth is.. God does want us to do those things! He does! But if your heart isn’t pure with intention. The intention that you want for God’s great love to move in your life, then you are only living up to your own standard. God wants us to focus on Him, in all things.

Change Your Focus

We can recite anything we want from the bible and do all the things I listed above, but until your life is a reflection of God’s deep love, it’s not worth it. Tae, did you just say that my life isn’t worth it!? Did I!? Is that how you feel? You know scripture back and forth, so you’re living your life God’s way right!?

If you felt your soul stir; what is God saying to you right now?

God wants us to change our focus. Rather than being so self centered, focus on what God’s word truly means. Go deeper than what the words that we read say. Let God speak to you!

Keeping the focus on ourselves and our own doing will only lead us back to shame and guilt.

God wants for us to discover what His word truly means.

His word represents.. eternal life.

Love unimaginable.

Joy everlasting.

and much much more.

If we turn to God we can find all of these. He is waiting for you to come back to Him! His arms are open so wide! His love for us all is so deep and he truly cares for each one of us individually! He will restore your soul!

Much love, Tae! <3

10 He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored.

Luke 6:10
