Bare is Beautiful: Comparison

I’m sure you’ve scrolled through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, or any other social media and thought…

“man I wish I looked like her. If only I had her body.”

Or “If only I could eat as healthy as she does. She controls her eating habits, so well.”

Or “omg relationship GOALS!”

Or “she really has herself all together”

Man oh man…

That girl you’re looking at, as you scroll, probably doesn’t even love her body, yet you envy it.

The girl you think has super control over what she eats, has an eating disorder.

That relationship you think is goals.. well one partner is verbally or even physically abusing the other.

The girl you think has herself all together, is actually incredibly overwhelmed.

We like to make up a story of what we can only hope a person’s life is like, so we can hope it for ourselves.

Why do we do that? Why can’t we love ourselves just the way Jesus made us. God made us each uniquely beautiful. If we can’t love ourselves the way God made us, we are truly mocking him. God doesn’t like to be mocked y’all, not by his own creation.

Take time to delve into God’s word.

If we let God be the center of our lives. We will love ourselves like never before!! We will be able to see the beauty in both the troubling and good times. We have to remember to praise God through it all. Not just when it is tough.

What can we do to lessen the thoughts of comparison:

  • Meet yourself with a piece of paper and write list of all the things you love about yourself and your life!
  • Make a list of affirmations to repeat to yourself daily! This truly make an impact on your life.
  • When you start to have negative thoughts about yourself. SHUT IT DOWN and tell yourself something that you love about who you are.

It’s so important to meet yourself where you are. Loving yourself does not just happen over night! It’s a journey.

I am always here for YOU! so if there is ever a time when you want to talk, message me on social media. Or simply leave a comment at the end of this post!

much love, Tae <3

Love yourself fiercely today!!

Proverbs 14:30 A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

  1. The comparison game is so toxic- definitely important to take a step back and remember that we’re each unique and wonderful in our own ways. I think self improvement should be for you, to increase your confidence, health and so as to live a happier life, not so you can look like someone else.
