Don’t Forget About You

home is where I am the best introvert I can beClick To Tweet

God has given me the most incredible gift. That is to be able to, on some level, understand where other people are coming from. I am so good at listening and being there for other people.

But y’all. I am an introvert. INFJ. I am an introverted extrovert. Does that make any sense!? no, not really? At certain times I am super open, energetic, out going, everything that an extrovert is. Though, I also need time to myself. The time that I take time to recharge is super vital to my well being! I am a little bit more introverted than extroverted. Maybe a lot haha.

The past couple months I have forgotten how much it means to my soul and spirit that I take time out for myself, away from the world. I’ve been doing a lot.

class and school work

blogging

hanging out with roommates (three instead of the normal one; I live in a suite)

Bible studies and small groups

Retreats

and other sorts of events

It did not hit me until this past fall break how much I over exert myself for other people and forget to care for myself! Heading back to campus I am going to make sure to carve out my alone time. Whether that will be sitting in the library a couple hours, a coffee shop, behind my favorite art gallery, etc.

I read a great post by Allison Marie earlier this week about the difference between self care and me time! Me time is typically selfish and not really fulling. Self care is selfless. Self care is selfless because you are focusing on bettering yourself. Allison explains it super well in her blog post, so you should go read it!

Here are some ways that I typically get some SELF CARE time in!

Journal!

Writing in my journal is always the best way for me to de-stress! I typically write my prayers in my journal! It’s a good way of keeping track of what I have asked God for and when times are hard its great to look back and read about how good God has been in my life! So if you do not have a journal you should definitely start writing in one! *should I write a post on quick and easy ways to jolt thoughts for a journal entry? Let me know in the comments!*

WALK

Y’all going for a walk is so great! The town I go to college in has the best downtown area to walk around in!! I love walking in all the little stores(even though I typically see the same things a couple times over haha), we have a lot of fair trade and restaurants. If you do eat in town, you have to climb back up the hill, so you’ve pretty much gotten you workout in for the day lol.

This is so beside the point but, if you know me, you know I love food!! we have this new taco place and it is soooo good!  Potato bowl is AMAZING!

Exercise!

Running is my new best friend! I went from barely being able to run half a mile over the summer to running two whole miles the other day!! say whaa!? I was super proud of myself! I’ve been doing a lot of Yoga this semester and I have gained a lot of strength my upper body! I think doing body weight workouts are super way to build strength!

Podcast

Lastly, listening to podcast is honestly the best way for some good self care! I listening to podcast like ALL OF THE TIME! literally.

Podcast I listen to:

My church of course, Holy Cross

Steven Furtick!

The Smart Twenties

I hope y’all enjoyed this post! Let me know below what you do with your self care time! Or if you do anything that I listed above let me know!!

Matthew 6:33New King James Version (NKJV)

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
